Joseph Sides

Joseph "Darrell" Sides, 85, of Harrisburg, NC passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.

Darrell was born October 6, 1937 in Concord, NC to the late Conrad S. Sides and the late Esther Barringer Sides.
He was also preceded in death by brother, Conrad D. Sides; and sisters, Irene Olson and Cloie Corry.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Sharon Caskey Sides of the home; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Ravon Harkey; nieces, Sherry Marshall (Danny); Kim Barnette; Alison Ballard (Jason); Karen Helms (Keith); Dede Kernochan (Bill); Amy Waggoner; and nephews, Jeff Corry; and Mike Cruse (Jenny).

Darrell was a proud member of the United States Air Force stationed in Korea.  He later became a police officer in Winston-Salem for ten years.  He then became the district sales manager for Consolidated Cigar, Inc. and retired from there in 1994 after 23 years.  He and his wife Sharon loved traveling the country and Europe.  Darrell was known as a storyteller and a jokester.  He was always laughing, smiling, joking, and was the best card player around.  Darrell will be dearly missed by all those who knew him and loved him.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Roberta United Methodist Church, 3925 Cochran Rd., Concord, NC 28027.  The funeral service will follow at 2:15 pm, officiated by Rev. Perry Hines.  A private burial service will follow at a later date at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
