Jose Aniceto Pena-Lepe, 60, of Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026 in Texas.
Jose was born April 17, 1966, in Mexico to the late Mateo Pena and Lorenza Lepe. In addition to his father, Jose was also preceded in death by brother, Epigmenio Pena Lepe and sister, Obdulia Pena Lepe.
Jose was a generous and kind-hearted man who touched the lives of everyone around him. He was a hardworking and honest man who took great pride in providing for his family. Jose was always kind to others and rarely, if ever, got angry. His gentle nature and warm heart made him someone people could always count on.
Jose cherished spending time with his family and friends and was the perfect host, especially when he was outside grilling meats and enjoying good company. He loved being outdoors and was happiest when he was staying busy and working with his hands. He also had a deep love for his Spanish and country music, which brought him many hours of enjoyment.
Above all, Jose was a loving husband, father, Pa-Paw, brother, uncle, and friend. His love, kindness, hard work, and generous spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be greatly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever loved.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 29 years, Mary Troutman-Pena of Harrisburg; mother, Lorenza Lepe-Ortega of Mexico; daughter, Ana Paula Pena-Odriozola of California; son, Jose Patrick Pena-Odriozoloa of California; sisters, Andrea Pena-Lepe, Petronia Pena-Lepe, and Luciana Pena-Lepe, all of Mexico; brothers, Alvaro Pena-Lepe, Martin Pena-Lepe and Miguel Pena-Lepe, all of Mexico; step-daughters, Donna Heiner of Mt. Pleasant, Lori (John) Rappe of Iron Station; step-grandchildren, Krystle and Travis; step-great-grandchildren, Blakely, Harper, Lillian, Alivia, and Kelsey; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. Don Newell and Rev. George McCullough. Burial will follow at the Harrisburg Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
