Jon Terrance Foster, 62, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Jon was born on August 5, 1963, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to the late Nicholas James Foster and Marie Jordan Foster Whitney. In addition to his father, Jon was preceded in death by his brother, Seth Barton Foster, and his grandparents, Robert and Pat Foster and J.T. “Slim” Jordan.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Brittney Edwards and husband Ryan of Concord, NC, and Caitlin Estrella and husband Omar of Charleston, SC; his mother, Marie Jordan Foster Whitney; his beloved granddaughters, Evelyn and Margaux, who lovingly called him “Grandpa Jon”; his sisters, Tina Asbury and Patricia Skelton; his brother, Nick Foster; and many nieces and nephews.

Jon lived life to the beat of his own drum — and more often than not, that beat came straight from his favorite band, The Cure. A lifelong lover of modern rock and roll, Jon could turn any car ride into a private concert, complete with air guitar and perfectly timed lyrics. His love of music was matched only by his passion for sports, especially his devotion to the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. Whether cheering from the stands or the couch, Jon’s Gamecock pride ran deep, win or lose.

Beyond his love of music and sports, Jon had an easygoing spirit, a sharp sense of humor, and a heart that found joy in life’s simplest pleasures — family gatherings, good laughs, and time spent with his faithful dog, Shelby. Jon was a reminder that love, laughter, and good music make life truly meaningful.

A private celebration of Jon’s life will take place at a later date.
