Johnie Melvin Harris

Johnie Melvin Harris, 94, of Albemarle, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Johnie was born October 28, 1928, in Montgomery County, North Carolina to the late Willie Alexander Harris and the late Lillie Jane Hunsucker Harris. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Duke Sasser Harris; second wife, Bessie Janet Bost Harris; son, Mickey T. Bost, Sr.; brothers, Clayton Calvin Harris and Willie Rayvon Harris; sisters, Lottie H. Mabry, Sally Mae Moore, Vera H. Owens, and baby Ines Harris.

The graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:00 am at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Gilead officiated by Pastor Buster Green. Burial will follow at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery at 657 Liberty Hill Road, Mt. Gilead, NC.

Survivors include son, Johnny Benny Harris of Oakboro, NC; daughters, Elva Marie Hill (Larry) of Albemarle, NC and Frankie Ann Biles (Todd) of Albemarle, NC; daughter-in-law, Linda C. Bost of Ozark, AL; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Colline H. Gibson of Troy, NC; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Johnie retired from E.J Snyder after 15 years. He loved his family and friends. He also enjoyed singing with a lot of Gospel groups and NASCAR, fishing, baseballs, and wrestling.
