Johnathan Abraham Grier, 44, of Charlotte, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

Johnathan was born September 14, 1980 in Stanly County, North Carolina to Phyllis Grier and the late Robert Harry Grier Sr.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Daniel Robert Grier, Robert H. Grier, Jr., and Carl Grier.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 11:45am, Friday, June 13, 2025, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 12:00pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle's Lefler Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev. Dale Newton. Burial will follow, Friday, June 13, 2025 at 2:30pm at the Salisbury National Cemetery at 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury.

Survivors include mother, Phyllis Grier of New London, NC; siblings, Pastor Michael (Jenene) Grier, Ernest (Angel) Grier, Peggy Cornelius, Loretta Grier, Pastor Mary (Dale) Newton, Minister Shelia G. Watkins, Paula (Alfred) Henry, Angela (Michael) Smith, and Astella (Alfred) Drake; nephews - who were like brothers, Quentin Bryant, Tywan Bryant, and Bryant Williams; and cousin and niece - who were like sisters, Celeste Thompson and Kimmery Merriman and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Johnathan was a North Stanly graduate, class of 1998. Following graduation he went straight into the U.S. Army where he served as a Combat Engineer in the 8th Engineer Battalion. In May 2008, he graduated from Stanly Community College with an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, he then went to further his education graduating from UNC Charlotte with a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Johnathan was an avid Buffalo Bills and Duke Blue Devils fan. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, and working out - and he could play piano... a little bit. Johnathan also loved to read and learn new skills and he was fluent in Spanish. More than anything Johnathan loved his family and they will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
