John Thomas Smith

John Thomas Smith, 94, of Concord, NC, departed this earth peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2023 to be with his Lord and Savior, and his beloved, departed wife of 50 years, Edith Cook Smith. 

Visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 6:15 pm.  The funeral service with military honors will follow in the funeral home chapel at 6:30 pm.  A private burial will be held at West Concord Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born to the late John Thomas Smith Jr. and the late Annie Lee Smith.  He was a longtime member of Roberta Baptist Church and the Mount Gilead Young at Hearts.  He leaves behind many beloved friends and extended family.  

Mr. Smith was a retired US Army Master Sergeant, having proudly served 27 years, and a Vietnam veteran with two tours of duty served.  He was an honored medal recipient and commemorated with many other awards for his valor, service and sacrifices.  His dedicated service took him worldwide, supplying endless stories of brotherhood, commitment, and duty.
