John Ferguson

John Ed Ferguson, 86 years of age, of Midland, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Universal Healthcare in Concord.

John was born July 25, 1928 in Cabarrus County to the late John Ralph Ferguson and the late Lula Faye Goodman Ferguson. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, William R. and M. H. Ferguson; two sisters, Birdie Ferguson and Joyce Flesher Smith; one grandson, Brandon Whitley; and step son, Gary Carpenter.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Ray Ravenbark will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Concord. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, 100 Pine Grove Church Rd., Concord.

He is survived by wife, Ella Pauline Carpenter Ferguson; daughters, Brenda (Randy) Morrison, Sherry (Keith) Flagherty, Sheila (Mike) Morrison, Marcia (Robert) Vaughn, Sue Washburn, and Robin Phillips; son, Johnny (Maria) Ferguson; step daughters, Rita (Charles) Wilkinson, Kathy (Roger) Lambert, and Mary Anne (Tommy) Allmon; step son, Danny (Vickie) Carpenter; brother, Clifford (Margaret) Ferguson; 29 grandchildren and 67 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn (J. P.) Kindley.

The family will be meeting at his home in Midland.
