Joel Willis Russell

Joel Willis Russell, 87, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

Joel was born January 29, 1939, in North Carolina to the late Alfred Hill Russell and the late Evelyn Mae Russell.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. A graveside service will be on Wednesday at 2:30 pm at Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Don Burleyson . Burial will follow at the Fairview Memorial Park at 1425 East Main Street, Albemarle.

Survivors include wife, Vicky Diane Russell; son, Jerry Russell, grandson, Jacob Russell and granddaughter; Regan Russell, sister; Patricia Lowder niece; Leslee Lowder Berlin; sister- in- Law Bonnie Helms and nephews Jeff Helms and Kevin Helms.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be shared to Tillery Compassionate Care, 960 N 1st St, Albemarle, NC 28001.
