Joe M. Munson

Joe Martin Munson, 92, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at his home in Concord surrounded by family.

Munson was born August 28, 1933 in North Carolina to the late William Monroe Munson and the late Carrie Elizabeth Munson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred E. Munson, son-in-law, Joe Dixon, four brothers and seven sisters.

Joe retired from Martin Marietta Charlotte Quary in 2002. He loved spending time with his family and was a loving father and grandfather. He loved going to church on Sunday and Troutman BBQ after church with brother Jim. He loved watching sports, westerns and loved racing, especially Dale Earnhardt. He as an avid Atlanta Braves and Carolina Tarheel fan. Any chance he would get he would go watch his great-grandsons play basketball. He will definitely be missed by all.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm, Monday, October 6, 2025 at Wilmar Park Baptist Church 584 Wilmar Street NW, Concord NC 28025. The funeral service will be on Monday at 1:30 pm at Wilmar Park Baptist in officiated by . Burial will follow at the West Concord Cemetery at 331 Union Cemetery Rd SW, Concord.

Survivors include daughter, Sherry Lynn Dixon of Concord, NC, son, Joe M Munson, Jr. and wife Cindy, of Midland, NC., three granddaughters, Rhonda Munson, Kimberly Munson and Lindsay Munson, one grandson, Steven Dixon and wife, Genna, two great granddaughters, Janae Munson and Kate Dixon, a special sister-in-law, Dot Munson.

The family would like to thank Dot Munson for all her love and care she gave to him.
