 Joe Francis Fisher, Age 88 of 45108 Gold Branch Road, Richfield, NC passed away on September 19, 2009 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. He resided at Spring Arbor at the time of his death. A life long member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Richfield, he served on the church council and various other committees. A charter member of Richfield Misenheimer Fire Dept., he was also a member of the Talbert-Wagoner VFW Post. Joe earned his Eagle Scout award and later served as Scout Master. He was a WWII veteran of the US Navy and was a crew member of P.T. Boat # 129 which served in the South Pacific Theatre. He was a partner in Richfield Milling Co. and was a farmer. Born in Stanly County, NC on March 19, 1921. Joe Francis Fisher was preceded in death by his mother, Effie Mae Wilhelm Fisher, his father, Walter John “W.J.” Fisher and his wife, Ruby Faye Rowland Fisher. Joe Francis Fisher was survived by daughters Joyce Fisher Ross and husband Michael, Bonnie Fisher Smith and husband Milas both of Richfield NC, Carol Fisher Carter and husband Joe of Mt. Pleasant, NC, son, John Lynn Fisher and wife Beverly of Bald Head Island, NC. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2009 from 6:00PM 8:00PM at Hartsell Funeral Home Albemarle. At other times the family will meet at his home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday,September 22, 2009 at 4:00 PM at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Graham Nahouse officiating. Burial will follow at Richfield Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12.
