Joan (Maksym) Paslo, 90, of Concord, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026 at her home.
Paslo was born August 11, 1935 in Pennsylvania to the late John Maksym and the late Mary Maksym.
On January 24, 1953, she married the love of her life John Paslo and together they raised eight children. They shared happy times including holidays, birthdays, outings, and family time. Joan was a full-time homemaker and mother, and she did this with a passion for perfection and unconditional love. She learned to cook from her Betty Crocker and Julia Childs cookbooks and mastered the culinary field. She was an exceptional cook and baker, and her skills would challenge any chef. She shared countless celebration meals with five of her childhood friends and their husbands. These friendships continued throughout their lives. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed winter coats and clothing for her children. She made a beautiful home for her family with a limited income and did this with creativity and what sources were available. Joan’s life was filled with love, humor, knowledge, friendship, and at times grief. Joan’s one true passion in life was her marriage to John. Their love story began when they were both young and naïve but their love, respect, and commitment to each other was the greatest achievement of all. Joan was woman of faith and was a member of the Thompson Memorial Church in New Hope, PA for decades before moving to South Carolina. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew and loved her. Most importantly she will once again be joined with John and her children. Joan’s faith was strong and steady, and she knew her heavenly father would be there to welcome her home.
She is survived by her three children, Rosann Paslo, Joan Goff, Joseph Paslo (Roseanne), brother John Maksym (Peggy ) grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Paslo family.
