Jerry Lee Harris

Jerry Lee Harris, 79, of Oakboro, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 peacefully at his home.

Jerry was born July 18, 1944 in North Carolina to the late Sam Pless Harris and the late Maybelle Drake Harris. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Clegg Harris, Bill Harris, Ted Harris, and Joe Harris; and sisters, Ruby Smith and Odeen Collins.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at West Oakboro Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at West Oakboro Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Jerry Greene and Rev. Stephen Smith. Burial will immediately follow at the Oakboro Cemetery at 1397 North Main Street, Oakboro.

Survivors include wife of 56 years, Derenda Barbee Harris of the home; siblings, Joy McRae and Hazel Hudson; several nieces and nephews; friends, Tommy and Tina Ross; and his beloved dog, Finley.

Jerry served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at West Oakboro for several years. He also loved to hunt and fish despite his disability.
