Jerry Douglas Hathcock passed on to his Heavenly home on September 6, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Doug was a faithful, dedicated & loving husband to his wife, Elaine Parrish Hathcock, & a wonderful & loving dad to his daughter, Leslie Sarah Lamm. He was also a loving grandfather to his 7 grandchildren which he loved & bragged about to everyone. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Parrish Hathcock; daughter, Leslie Sarah Lamm & husband James I. Reason; seven grandchildren, Nicole Reason, Janson Reason, Reagan Reason, Cameron Reason, Josey Reason, Job Reason & Kelsea Reason; sister, Margaret Garmon; niece, Lesley Smith; nephews, Josh Smith and Michael Bailey; niece Megan Hardy. He was predeceased by his parents Garfield Hathcock and Sadie Hathcock; brother, Jimmy E. Hathcock; & sister, Ruby Weathersbee.

Doug served in the US Air Force for four years. He served in Vietnam, Europe & the US. He was awarded NCO Of The Year in The United States Air Force - Europe for Meritorious Achievement. He was Staff Sergeant to the General.

His career positions included Evaluator at the Stanly County Vocational Rehabilitation Services in Albemarle, NC; Director of the Vocational Rehabilitation Services of Monroe, NC Grants Manager for Union County; and Tax Collector for Union County.

Doug loved the Lord with all his heart. He read his Bible daily & prayed fervently. He loved listening to gospel music. He also enjoyed hearing the sermons from preachers such as Jeremy Johnson of Back to Bethel Church in Monroe NC, Woody Parrish of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Wilson, John Hagee, Jimmy Swaggart, and others.

Visitation for Doug will be on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Back to Bethel Church, 3606 Sanford Lane, Monroe, NC. His funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Back to Bethel Church. His burial will be at 3:00 p.m. in Norwood, NC at Norview Gardens Cemetery.
