With deep faith in God and a life devoted to family and service, Jeanette Garrett VanDriesen, age 87, entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 18, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on November 28, 1938, in Johnson City, New York, Jeanette was the youngest of four children born to the late Elizabeth and Raymond Garrett.
Jeanette was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, beloved sister, and treasured friend. Family was the center of her life, and she found great joy in family traditions, gatherings, and the simple moments shared with loved ones, especially time spent together at the beach. Blessed with a servant's heart, Jeanette dedicated much of her life to helping others through her volunteer work with Mary's Visitors and the St. James Women's Guild. Jeanette was a founding member of the Mercy Associates Concord Group, a testament to her deep faith and lifelong commitment to service. Her kindness, compassion, and generosity touched countless lives and reflected the deep faith that guided her throughout her life.
Jeanette was preceded in death by those who welcomed her into eternal life, including her husband, George VanDriesen; Son-in-law, Richard Prymock; two Grandchildren, Brandon Mesimer and Megan McQueen; Great-Grandson, Liam Johnson; along with her three siblings and numerous extended family. Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Gary VanDriesen, Cathi Fisher, Beth Prymock, Michael (Rachelle) Fisher; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home, in Concord, NC.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 1:30 pm at St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Concord. Following the service, Jeanette will be laid to rest with her husband, George, at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County or St. James the Greater Catholic Church.
The VanDriesen family extends its gratitude for the prayers, love, and support received.
