Jeanette Stamper Russell

Jeanette Stamper Russell, 74, of New London, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Atrium Health Stanly Hospital in Albemarle.

Jeanette was born February 4, 1950 in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late Buck Stamper and the late Bessie Cranford Stamper. 

She was preceded in death husband Jimmy Loyd Russell, granddaughter, Alison Nicole Russell and sister, Edith Anderson.

Jeanette was the second of four girls that had a bond like no other. They were the true epitome of sisterhood. When together, there was always a good time whether sharing a meal, a vacation at Ocean Lakes Campground, or just spending time together talking.

She worked several years with Allison Manufacturing, and also helped her long-time best friends, Sherry and Robbie with Sherry's cleaning business. Those 3 would get things done but had a great time doing it. She and Jimmy also had a mobile home transport business for several years which allowed them to see much of the eastern half of the country together. After her granddaughter Alison was born with special needs, she went to school to become a CNA to better help with her care.

After retirement she spent her time taking care of her husband, Jimmy. She was the example of devotion that so many desire between a husband and wife, a true example of honoring their vows from their wedding. When Jimmy passed, she spent her time with her sisters, family, and playing her games. She was always trying new things in the kitchen and always had a cup of coffee ready for herself and company.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11:00am at Plyler Baptist Church in Albemarle officiated by Pastor Chuck Hensley. Burial will follow at Plyler Baptist Church Cemetery, 25958 Austin Road, Albemarle.

Survivors include sons, Tony Loyd (April) Russell of New London, NC and Terry Dale (Lynn) Russell of New London, NC; grandchildren, Miranda Russell, Shelby, Joseph Schumacher, and Jonathan Hathaway; sisters, Barbara (Terry) Herlocker and Lynn (Sherrell) Hatley; and several nieces and nephews.
