Jason Allen Short

Jason Allen Short, 43 years old, of Midland, NC, passed away on February 24, 2026.

Jason was born on April 5, 1982, in Humble, TX. His childhood and youth were marked by curiosity and a sense of daring adventure.

Jason studied at North Carolina State University and UNC Charlotte, earning a degree in Geology. He later studied at Pfeifer University, pursuing a Masters in Family Therapy. His youthful gregariousness and love of the outdoors echoed throughout his life as he sought out the company of friends as often as strangers, finding his greatest solace in nature. He served many years working for the YMCA and ventured throughout the United States working as a guide for climbing and zip lining in North Carolina, Colorado, and Washington.

Jason was known for his work ethic, kindness, directness, and a deep love for puns. He enjoyed making things with his hands, especially crafting knives.

Jason was a man of deep faith and conviction and an active member of East Charlotte Presbyterian Church and Christ Covenant of Charlotte, always seeking meaningful action serving others.

He is survived by his parents and his sisters.

A celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks at his parents’ home. They invite those who knew and loved him to reach out to them for those arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank.
