Janice Kennedy

Janice Baucom Kennedy of Oakboro reached for the hand she longed for on June 10, 2023, leaving her earthly home for her heavenly home.

Born, November 27, 1935, in Union County to the late Fred Ray Baucom and Margie Thomas Baucom, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Melvin Kennedy, sisters, Ramelle Baucom, Clara Baucom, Brother, Glenn (Eunice) Baucom, nephew, Roger Dale Baucom, sister and brother-in-laws, Rachel (Cecil) Smith of Concord, Helen (Conwell) Austin of Oakboro, Mary Jewel (Peary Neal) Brooks of Marshville, Partricia Ann Kennedy of Locust, Cecil E. Parker and Glenn E. Hinson.

Survivors include her only son, Donnie Ray Kennedy of the home and Tammy King (Donnie's companion & Janice's endeared caregiver) of Polkton, grandson, Jamie Lee Kennedy of Charlotte, dearly beloved sister, Ruby Baucom Parker of Marshville, Sister-in-laws, Brenda Kennedy Hinson of Locust, Elizabeth Kennedy (Lyn) Frey of Monroe and a host of nieces and nephews.

Janice worked in textiles and retired from Bristol Myers Squibb. She enjoyed going out to lunch with Ruby and phone calls from loved ones. Janice was rooted in her neighborhood of Little's, Hill's and Lambert's. She was a wholesome woman and loved by all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023, 11:00 am, at Oakboro Cemetery 1373 N Main Street, Oakboro, NC, 28129, officiated by Dr. Rev. Kinney Wallace and Rev. Gerald Baucom.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Cemetery fund, 7002 Pleasant Hill Church Road, Marshville, NC 28103 or Mineral Spring Baptist Church, 4694, NC 205, Oakboro, NC  28129.
