Frankie Smith

Jane "Frankie" Franklin Smith, 81, of Stanfield, peacefully passed away Friday, November 14, 2025 at Atrium Health Pineville in Charlotte.

Frankie was born June 21, 1944 in North Carolina to the late James Merrill Canup and the late Effie Elizabeth Canup.

Very strong in her Christian faith, Frankie dedicated her life to Jesus while still a little girl. She was very modest, humble and had a quiet strength that gave comfort to everyone around her. Frankie worked for many years as a teacher preparing young minds for formal education. After retirement she worked on the Church Maintenance team at Fort Mill First Baptist Church, where she was very loved and respected. Her crowning achievement later in life was helping a dear adult friend learn to read.

The family will receive friends from 11:30am - 12:45pm on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Boger's Chapel UMC for visitation and a meal in the fellowship hall. A Homegoing Celebration Service will follow at 1pm on Sunday, in the sanctuary, officiated by Pastor Eric Shaver. Burial will follow at the Boger's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery at 1775 Flowes Store Road East, Concord.

Survivors include daughters, Janice (Mark) Jadlocki of Midland, NC, and Deborah Blackmon, Rock Hill, SC; brother James (Donna) Canup, Charlotte, NC; nephew Scott Canup; niece Tamera Canup; "adopted" daughter, Bettina Bissell; and special grandpuppies, Dude and Daisy Mae.
