James Ulas Franklin "Pick" Pickler, 93 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 at his home in Albemarle.
Ulas was born July 28, 1921 in Stanly County to the late Doc John Cicero Pickler and the late Jencie Almond Pickler. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Etta Almond Pickler; brother, Gilbert Pickler; and sister, Grace Dorsey.
The family will receive friends at graveside from 10:30 am - 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Fairview Memorial Park, 425 East Main Street, Albemarle. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 am officiated by Rev. Ron Honeycutt.
Ulas honorably served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He retired after many years as an automotive mechanic for Crowell Huneycutt Dodge Plymouth and for Morgan Motor Company .
Survivors include daughter, Joyce Pickler (John) Solomon of North Myrtle Beach, SC; grandsons, John David (Kristine) Solomon and Gregory (Missy) Solomon, both of Clayton; four great grandchildren, Kelley, Kyle, Taylor and Christopher Solomon; sisters, Nellie (Leroy) Tucker and Judy Caudle of Albemarle.
A special note of gratitude is extended to the staff of Hospice of Stanly County and the numerous caregivers who provided exceptional care to Ulas.
