James Albert Mohrman

April 21, 1945 — April 6, 2026

Concord

James Albert Mohrman, 80, of Concord, NC passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 6, 2026, surrounded by his wife and children--just as he would have wanted.

If you knew Jim Mohrman, you knew there was very little he couldn't figure out. Above all, it was his unwavering dedication to his family that defined him.

Born on April 21, 1945, in Oberlin, Ohio, Jim built a life defined by intelligence, determination, and an extraordinary ability to create, fix, and improved anything he set his mind to. He earned a degree in electrical engineering from Ohio State University and went on to a distinguished career. Founder of Applied Research and former Telmar president, he built a legacy that his son, Jeff, will carry forward.  Later in his career, as a Senior Electrical Engineer at Phillip Morris, he invented a portable case packer and held the patents for that innovation.

Jim didn't just design and engineer at work--he lived it. He built two homes for his family entirely with his own hands along with the help of his sons, doing everything from the framing to the electrical to the plumbing. If something needed to be built or repaired, Jim could do it. To those who knew him best, he was truly a modern-day MacGyver.

But beyond his remarkable mind and accomplishments, Jim's greatest pride and deepest joy was his family. He absolutely adored his wife, Deborah, a Naturopathic Doctor. Together, they built not only a life, but a legacy--opening Genesis Herb Garden, a health and wellness supplement store in Concord that has remained strong and thriving for 35 years. His daughter, Nikki, sons Brian, Jeff, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Nichole followed in their mother's footsteps and will continue the family business. In his spare time, Jim even created a point-of-sale system to manage their inventory, receipts, and customer base--a reflection of both his ingenuity and his quiet dedication behind the scenes.

To his wife and children, Jim was one of the most intelligent and self-motivated people they have ever known--a man who could solve any problem and approach life with both logic and heart. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather whose steady presence will be deeply missed. He was most definitely loved and adored by his wife and children.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Nola and Perry Mohrman, and his brother, David Mohrman.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah; his children, Brian, Nikki, Jeff, and Michael; his grandchildren, Ethan, Matthew, Christopher, and Gideon; and his younger brother, Bill.

Together, they built a life they loved--and his love will continue to live on through all of them.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, to be determined.
