James Kindley
June 30, 1929 — January 22, 2017
MOUNT PLEASANT - James Paul Kindley, Sr. (J.P.), age 87, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Stanly Manor in Albemarle, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 30, 1929, in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Walter Daniel Kindley and the late Jennie Bullabaugh Kindley.
J.P. worked as a supervisor in the textile industry for over 50 years. He was also an ordained minister, steadfast in his faith and devotion to God throughout his life. J.P. enjoyed singing, ministering, hunting, golfing and sports of all kinds. He was an avid softball player who also served as an Umpire for youth softball leagues. He was a member of Branchview First Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved sons, Mark Anthony Kindley, age 23, and James Paul Kindley, Jr. (Jimmy), age 57; and his siblings, Martha Hatley, Mozell Simpson, Leonard Kindley and Glenn Kindley; as well as his grandson Chris Mower.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife and treasured partner for almost 70 years, Evelyn Ruth Ferguson Kindley; sons, Rodney Dale Kindley and wife, Lu; and Michael Glenn Kindley and wife, Sheila; his grandchildren, Marci Kindley Jordan, Brent Kindley, Angela Kindley Dennis, and Ryan Tyler Kindley; his great-grandchildren, Zoe Kindley, Ryker Jordan, Garrick Jordan, and Logan Kindley; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved; and the caring nurses, CNAs, and staff of Stanly Manor who became his cherished companions during the last year of his life.
The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Thursday January 26 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord, funeral services will follow at 1:00pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord, officiated by the Rev. Ed Lenzer. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to The Patient's Council Fund at Stanly Manor, 625 Bethany Rd., Albemarle, NC 28001.
