James Hinson

James Durant "J.D." Hinson, 90, of Oakboro, passed away quietly in his home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 25, 2014 in Oakboro, NC. Mr. Hinson was born September 18, 1923 in Stanly County to the late Daniel Andrew Hinson and Annie Belle Cauble Hinson. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Violet Tucker Hinson, in 2012. J.D. was a loving father, papa, and great grandpa. He was a gentle man who lived out his faith by humbly serving others. He enjoyed traveling across the country on his motorcycle and growing tomatoes to give to his friends. He will be greatly missed by those whose lives were touched by his kindness. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home - Albemarle. A service to honor his life will be on Wednesday January 29, 2014 at Red Cross Baptist Church at 3:30 pm officiated by the Rev. Josh Fraley and Rev. Garry Baker. Survivors include son, Mike Hinson and wife, Ellen, of Oakboro; daughter, June Winfree and husband, Michael, of Clayton; grandson, Aaron Winfree and wife, Carey; granddaughter, Amber Morzella and husband, Daniel; and great-granddaughter, Reagan Winfree.
