Jackie T. Palmer

Jackie T. Palmer, 87, of Harrisburg, NC, entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. He passed peacefully with family holding his hand.

He was born April 8, 1938, in Central, SC, to the late Theron Alvin Palmer and Mary Elizabeth Walker Palmer. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Alice Harris Palmer; son-in-law, David Englebert; sister, Jean Palmer Alford; brother, James Palmer; and twin brothers, Harrell and Darrell Palmer.

Jackie was a faithful member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a past deacon. He loved listening to worship music and praising the Lord. He served in the Army National Guard Reserves. He retired from Duke Energy after many years of service. Jackie will be remembered for his sweet smile. Jackie was the best Daddy, Granddaddy, Brother and Uncle. He cherished time spent with his family and his church family, especially his Vea Sunday School class. Jackie was a kind and gentle soul who will be dearly missed and forever loved by all.

Those left to cherish Jackie's memory include his daughter, Gay Palmer Englebert of Harrisburg, NC; son, Jay Palmer and wife, Ashli, of Midland, NC; sister, Pat Palmer McKee of Seneca, SC; grandchildren, McKinley Palmer, Grayson Palmer, Angela Peterson and husband, Mark, and Amy Powell and husband, Tony; nieces; nephews; and other extended family.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 11:50 am, Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church (Harris Campus), Charlotte, NC. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm, officiated by Rev. John Harrill. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Mint Hill, NC.

The Palmer family will never forget the compassion, love and care given to Daddy by the staff at Tucker Hospice House. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Hearts and Hammers Fund.
