Jack R. Moore, 72 years of age, of Locust, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Eden, NC, Jack was born July 10, 1941, to the late James Melvin Moore and his loving mother, Callie Edens Moore. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Jeff Springer will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 6, 2013, at Big Lick Baptist Church. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. After graduating from Morehead High School, Jack received a two year business degree from Rockingham Community College. He was marketing manager for the bedding and sheeting division of Fieldcrest mills, Eden and Kannapolis. Jack was a lover of people and enjoyed playing Santa Claus for years in the Eden Christmas parades. For many years, Jack served as a volunteer fireman for the Eden Fire Department. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed participating in the King Mackerel Tournaments, Murrells Inlet, SC. He also was active and loved serving Meals on Wheels after his retirement. One of his greatest delights was when he joined Big Lick Baptist Church, Oakboro, NC, where he sang in the choir, served on the Deacon Board, participated in the Brotherhood and served the widows and widowers. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jean Richardson Moore; daughters, Carmen Cheryl Griswold and husband, Paul of Albemarle, Virginia Grey Hensarling and husband, Danny of Petal, Mississippi, Emma Murtis Crowe of Murphy and Alice Kristin Vance and husband, Scott of Stanfield; son Geoffrey Richardson Moore and wife, Terri of Locust. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Heather Clifton, Jessica and Chelsea Moore, Howard and Kevin Terry, Jewelia and Elliott Crowe and seven great grandchildren; one sister, Betty M. le Roux and husband, Daneel of Greenville, NC.
