Jack H Barnwell Jr.

Jack Herron Barnwell, Jr., 73, of Harrisburg, NC, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC.

Mr. Barnwell was born on July 29, 1952, in Washington, DC, to the late Jack Herron Barnwell and the late Mary Alice Edwards Barnwell. Mr. Barnwell was also preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Ganoe and Wayne "Doug" Barnwell.

On July 7, 1985, he married Ellen Hollingsworth Barnwell and helped her raise her two children. He worked thirty years as a U.S. Customs Special Agent until his retirement in 2002.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 40 years, Ellen H. Barnwell; daughter, Nell Anne Becker (Kevin) of Concord, NC; son, Luke Hollingsworth Martineau (Cindy) of Harrisburg, NC; five grandchildren, MacKenzie G. Becker, Addison F. Becker, and Drew S. Becker of Concord, NC; Connor H. Martineau and Lainey C. Martineau of Harrisburg, NC; sisters, Mary “Sissy” Pearson of Suffolk, VA, and Linda B. Page of Fayetteville, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews.

It is Mr. Barnwell’s wishes that there be no funeral service after his demise.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care Cabarrus or to the Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus County.
