Ian David Bryson, 87 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Thomasville Medical Center in Thomasville. Ian was born February 21, 1926 in Ogdensburg, NY to the late John Bryson and the late Jean Wilkie. Mr Bryson's parents emigrated from Scotland. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and served in the Navy during WWII aboard troop transport USS Sirona. After leaving the Navy, he attended Syracuse University where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering and began working for ALCOA in Massena, NY. In July 1965, he transferred to ALCOA Works in Badin, NC, where he worked until his retirement in December 1985. The family will receive friends from 10 -11am, on Wednesday December 18, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, 126 W. North Street, Albemarle NC, at . The funeral service will follow in the sanctuary at 11am. He is survived by his wife Gloria, their six children and spouses, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1578, Albemarle NC, 28002, or charity of donor's choice.
