Howard Hartsell

Howard Lee Hartsell, 93, passed away on January 11, 2013 at his home in Midland. Mr. Hartsell was born February 21, 1919 to the late Ellis Oscar and Mamie Hough Hartsell. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Cosette Brooks Hartsell; a daughter-in-law Diane Hartsell; and his brothers, Joe and Hubert Hartsell. He served in the Navy during WWII. He retired as General Superintendent for John Crosland Company, served as Superintendent for Bob McLemore Company, and Harry Grimmer Company. After retirement, he and his wife were able to spend much loved time at Carolina Beach. The family will receive friends from 3 – 4 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Midland. The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary. Survivors include his sons, Wayne Hartsell and his wife, Mary, of Carolina Beach, Jack Hartsell and Gary Hartsell and his wife, Julia, of Midland; his grandchildren, Tammy Hartsell of Carolina Beach, Kathy Almond and her husband, Ronald, of Denver, Lee Hartsell and his wife, Christa of Carolina Beach, Jason Hartsell and his wife, Melissa, of Midland, Jeff Hartsell of Carolina Beach, Karen Whitley and her husband, Trent, of Oakboro, and Jodi Helms and her husband, Scott, of Mt. Pleasant; 14 great-grandchildren, Tanner Almond and wife, Lindsey, Meredith Almond, Alexis, Jantzen, and Lacey Hartsell, Chelsea and Camden Hartsell, Greyson, Graham, and Savannah Hartsell, Jacob and Luke Whitley, and Grant and Holly Helms. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081, or Bethel United Methodist Church, 12700 Idlebrook Road, Midland, NC 28107.
