Howard Ray Adams

Howard Ray Adams, 71, of Troy, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026 at in Troy.

Howard was born June 11, 1955 in North Carolina to the late Heber Ray Adams and the late Lucy Locketa Johnson.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Cynthia Sikes Adams.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. Burial will follow at a later date located at Pinewood Memorial Park at 4150 E 10th Street, Greenville, North Carolina.

Howard was an exceptional husband, father, and grandfather. He was an encouraging and supportive spouse, father, and grandfather, with unmatched integrity. He was a man of faith who loved the Lord dearly and his life reflected his love of the Lord in that he shared his faith with others, including his family and the many church communities he was active in. He was an Eagle Scout and spent many years serving the local Boy Scout Troops. Howard loved history, golf, tennis, and baseball, specifically the Atlanta Braves. Howard was an avid beach goer, and would often times visit the Outer Banks. He was also fond of captaining his boat on Lake Tillery. Howard, while at home, was always in the company of his dogs, his faithful companions, Bailey, Watson, and Otto.

Survivors include wife, Melissa Adams; brother, Murray (Cindy) Adams; son, Wesley (Bethany) Adams, daughters, Tiffany, Maddie, Lulea, Aubri, Stephanie, Heather, Courtney, and Julianna Adams; step children, Amber (Mike) White, Heather (Roger) Brown, and Jason (Dani) Luther; grandchildren, Maggie, Molly and Tate Adams, Lane Brooks, Caroline Ritter, Emma and Hayleigh Brown, and Damon White; and many beloved extended family.
