Henry "Sonny" Rodgers, Jr.

Henry Stuart "Sonny" Rodgers, Jr., 79, of Concord, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

Sonny was born January 28, 1943 in North Carolina to the late Henry Stuart Rodgers Sr. and Janie Ruth Myers Rodgers Baucom.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Sonny retired as a maintenance supervisor after 39 years from Fieldcrest Cannon and was an active member of Parkwood Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard and was a die-hard UNC Tar Heel and Boston Red Sox Fan. He was known for his love of Westerns and sharing his knowledge of growing tomatoes and hostas.

The family will receive friends from 11:30am -12:30pm on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Parkwood Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1pm at the church officiated by Pastor Michael Waters and Rev. Darrell Coble. Burial will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery- Concord.

In addition to his parents Sonny was preceded in death by his sister Sarah Crainshaw.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Donna Curtis Rodgers of Concord, NC; son, Kelly Rodgers (Eugenie) of Georgia; grandchildren, Abby Rodgers Tedford, Cameron Rodgers, Kylee Rodgers, Casey Rodgers; great grandchildren, Salem and Jett Tedford; as well as niece Jill Crainshaw and nephew Joel Crainshaw.

Sonny had many bonus children and grandchildren to whom he was known as Uncle Sonny and PopPop Sonny.
