Haywood Edwards

Haywood Edsel Edwards went home to be with his Savior and Lord on July 14, 2015. He was surrounded by his wife, his children and family.

Born January 10, 1934 to the late Haywood and Viola Baucom Edwards of Marshville, NC. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Celia Ann Edwards.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday, July 17, 2015, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 am at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Stanfield officiated by Rev. Dwight Mabry. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeannette Hathcock Edwards, of Oakboro; son, Mark Edwards and his wife, Lisa of Leland; daughter, Amy Edwards Boger and her husband, Mike of Oakboro; six grandchildren: Benjamin Edwards, Chance Boger, Elizabeth Edwards, Claudia Boger, Sarah Edwards and Anna Edwards; sisters: Rebecca Hill of Oakboro, Ruth Little of Minneapolis, MN, and Shirley (Tony) Whitley of Stanfield.

Edsel was an active member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Stanfield, NC where he faithfully served as a deacon, RA leader, and on various committees for more than 50 years.

He was co-owner of E & H Recapping, later known as Best Tire Kare, in Oakboro where he did small engine repair alongside his brother-in-law and business partner of 40 years, Junior Harris. He also enjoyed woodworking and working outside.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Trinity Place for their love and care over the past six months. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Philadelphia Baptist Church, P.O. Box 280, Stanfield, NC 28163.
