Harvey Sanford Helms Sr., 78 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord.
Harvey was born April 22, 1936 in Stanly County N.C. to the late Sanford Gennings and Gertie Lambert Helms.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday December 30 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle . The funeral service will be on Wednesday December 31 at 3:00 PM at Hartsell's Lefler Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev. Ted Morton and Rev. Joe Smith . Burial will follow at the Ridgecrest Prysbeterian Church Cemetery.
Survivors include son, Harvey Helms, Jr. (Evelyn) of Oakboro, daughter, Anita Burleson of Concord, Grandchildren Derek Helms, Travis Burleson, Jacob Davis and Ethan Helms. Great grandchildren Chance Helms, Denver Helms and Kaydence Burleson; sister, Barbara Osborne (Bob) of Mint Hill, NC and the mother of his children Johnsie Honeycutt Helms of Albemarle
Harvey was a carpenter by trade and was a member of Hillside Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
The family will be at Harvey's home 20135 Newsome Road in Oakboro.
