Harold Rushing

Harold Lewis Rushing, Sr., 82 years of age, of Concord, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast in Concord. Harold, a lifelong member of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Concord, was a loving husband, father, and friend. Prior to retirement, Mr. Rushing was employed with Kerr Bleachery and Star America.

Harold was born January 4, 1935, in Cabarrus County to the late Pearl Jefferson Rushing and the late Renie Barbee Rushing. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Rushing; son, Harold "Lewis" Rushing, Jr.; and granddaughter Crystal Rushing Simpson.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Mauldin Rushing; daughter, Karen Rushing Collins; sons, Richard and Kenneth Rushing, all of Concord; granddaughter, Amanda McDonald Cunningham of China Grove; grandson, Jason Burris of Mt. Pleasant; great grandson Tyler Sechlar of China Grove; as well as nieces, Robin Rushing and Cindy Rushing Smith.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm, Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church of Concord, officiated by Rev. Ed Hall and Rev. Buster Pigg. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Concord.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
