Glenn Thomas "Buddy" Melton, 72, of Oak Island, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025 in Wilmington, NC.

Glenn was born November 25, 1952 in Wilmington, North Carolina, the only child of the late Grover Glenn Melton and the late Tina Lee Barbee Melton.

Glenn started his adult life as a truck driver hauling fuel all over North Carolina. He put himself through college driving the truck and completed degrees from Johnston Community College, Campbell University, and the University of North Carolina - Charlotte. He became an engineer, working for several companies in the Research Triangle Park and taught Electronics Engineering Technologies at Johnston Community College. He retired from duPont Electronics in 2009. He loved guns, World War II history, stock trading and motorcycles. He was an intellectual who never met a stranger and could speak intelligently about nearly any subject. He had a kind and generous soul and those who knew him loved him immensely.

The Graveside service will be at 12pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Don Burleyson.

Survivors include god-daughter, Dina Anderson and her spouse Michael of Oak Island, many cousins and close friends and his beloved dogs "Puppy" and "Brown Dog".

Special thanks to friend Carol Clason who helped care for Glenn in his final days.
