Gerald Wayne Efird

Gerald Wayne Efird, 77, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Gerald was born July 24, 1948, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to the late Jason Eugene Efird and the late Jewell Little Efird.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday, August 15, 2025, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11:00 am at Pine Grove Methodist Church in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Beau Linker. Burial will immediately follow at the Pine Grove Methodist Church Cemetery at 28766 NC 24-27 Highway, Albemarle.

Survivors include wife of 59 years, Gail Poplin Efird of the home; daughter, Kelly Efird Simmons of Albemarle, NC; grandchildren, Ian Simmons and Elliot Simmons; bonus-granddaughter, Grace Richards; sister, Lisa Efird (Mark) Hartsell of Stanfield, NC; nieces, Lauren Hartsell Crump (Justin) and Anna Flores Gibson (Cade); and nephews, Jason Whitley (Kandace) and Bill Poplin.

Gerald spent many years in service to his community through political and civic organizations and most of all through his church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tillery Compassionate Care or Pine Grove Methodist Church Men's Group.
