Gennie Smith

Gennie Lynn Smith Smith, 71 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. Gennie was born December 2, 1942 in Stanly County to the late William Grady Smith and the late Clois Jane Huneycutt Smith. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Darrell Harris and second husband, Walter Stack Smith. The family will receive friends from 6 PM and 8 PM Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle . The funeral service will be at 1 PM on Friday at Immanuel Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Joe Smith. The burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 East Main St., Albemarle. At other times the family will be gathering at her home. She is survived by sons, Berry Harris and Jill Hartman of Oakboro, and Terry Harris and Lori Young of Oakboro; stepsons, Sandy L. Smith and Gerald Smith and wife, Angela all of Albemarle; stepdaughter, Sylvia Stirewalt and husband, David of New London; grandchildren, Dale, Sandy Jr. and Santanna Smith, Andy, Aaron and Anita Stirewalt, and Ashley Mason and Amanda Laton, and Ryan, Tyler, and Brianna Harris; 13 great-grandchildren; and her beloved Chihuahuas, Sue, Baby, and Rosco. Gennie worked at TLC as a CNA. She was a loyal member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She loved her church and loved God.
