Gatha Whitley

Gatha Cornell Barbee Whitley, 86 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015 at her home.
Gatha was born March 4, 1929 in Stanly County to the late Joseph Welton Barbee and Emma Hatley Barbee. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Jerome Willie Whitley in 2011.
The family will receive friends at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Monday June 22, 2015 from 2:00PM - 3:00 PM . The funeral service will follow at 3:00PM at the church officiated by Dr. Wayne Bennett. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include son, Dudley Whitley and his wife Betty of Oakboro; grandson, Shawn C. Whitley; step-grandchildren, Ginger Pope, Brooke Tucker and Clint Drye; and sisters, Johnnie Eudy, Rella Huneycutt, Allie Whitley and Ruth Teeter.
