Mrs. Frances Greene Kiker of Monroe, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, January 9th, 2026, at the age of ninety-four.
Frances, affectionately known as “Granny” to all regardless of their relation, was born on August 19th, 1931. Her parents were the late Arthur and Asberry Greene who lived at the end of the road that shared their namesake. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Norman; brothers: Erastus, J.D better known as “Bird,” B.F, and David Greene; and sisters: Willie Simpson and Rachel Kiker. She leaves behind three children, Robert Kiker (Janette), Danny Kiker (Cathy), and Brenda Williams (Tommy) all of Monroe. Her beloved grandchildren are as follows: Glen, Holly, Travis, Dustin, and Amanda. She was also Granny to eleven great-grandchildren.
Granny was a devout Christian and a lifetime member of Antioch Baptist Church. Frances dearly loved her family and friends. She loved nothing more than visits from her loved ones and spending time enjoying their company. You could often find Granny piling as many grandchildren on her golf cart as possible and driving around the countryside as she rode to her hearts content or the gas ran out. She loved spending time outdoors and working in her garden which she harvested and canned each year. Her field of bright red poppies that she planted a few years back was a particularly happy place for her. She can be seen beaming with joy in pictures made in the field. She read her Bible daily and could be heard praying nightly as she lay in bed. She was a wonderful cook known for many of her great meals. You were truly blessed if you got to experience her tomato dumplings, chicken and dumplings, or stickies that would melt in your mouth.
Granny was a woman who was loved by many and had an equal amount of love to give to anybody she encountered on a daily basis. She will be deeply missed but leaves behind a wonderful legacy and a lifetime of irreplaceable memories.
The services in celebration of Granny's life will be held on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026 at Antioch Baptist Church, 6223 Love Mill Road, Monroe. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Joe Query. Frances will be laid to rest with her beloved husband in the church cemetery.
The Kiker family would like to express their sincerest thanks for the love and care given by the hospital staff at Atrium Union, 3rd floor and ER.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Kiker family.
