Floyd Eudy

Floyd Ray Eudy, 86, of Albemarle, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Trinity Place in Albemarle.

Mr. Eudy was born on August 12, 1936, to the late Millard Levi and Gathie Marina Almond Eudy. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, James Eudy, Cletus Eudy, John "Ervin" Eudy, Ernest "Snatch" Eudy, Charlie Eudy, Ralph Eudy; sisters Ramelle Martin, Carrie McIlwaine.

Floyd was a self-employed general contractor and president of E&L Contractors, Incorporated. He was a charter member of the Home Builders Association and retired as a Code Enforcement Officer for Stanly County. Mr. Eudy was also a construction loan inspector for Uwharrie Bank. Floyd was a member of Albemarle Masonic Lodge #703, Homebuilders Association, and served on the advisory committee for the Stanly Adult Care Center. Mr. Floyd helped oversee the restoration of the Albemarle Depot, which became the Market Station,and is dedicated to his honor. He was a volunteer crew leader for Habitat for Humanity. Floyd was a former member of Plyler Baptist Church and a current member of West Albemarle Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 12:45 pm, on Monday, December 26, 2022, at West Albemarle Baptist Church, 336 Church Street, Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm,  officiated by Rev. Tab Whitley and Rev. Adam M. Hatley. Burial will conclude at Plyler Baptist Church Cemetery, 25958 Austin Road, Albemarle.

Survivors include, wife of 64 years, Martha Barbee Eudy; son, Douglas (Misti) Eudy; daughter, Marla (Tony) Chavis; son, Alex (Jamie) Eudy; grandchildren, Jared (Brittany) Chavis; Carmen (Brandon) Whitley; Hannah (Brian) Lear; Katelyn Speight, Rylee Eudy, Austin Eudy; great-grandchildren, Ty Speight, Hank Chavis, Aly Speight, Mary Grace, Campbell Chavis, Finlee Lear, Collins Chavis; sisters, Oaksie (Ronnie) Cole, Doris (Jerry) Eudy.

Floyd was Citizen of the Year for 2001 of Stanly County and the Main Street Champion. In 2006, he was Mason of the Year.

He was also a member of the Millingport Men's Club and a volunteer at the Millingport Fire Department.

Memorials may be made to West Albemarle Baptist Church, Shriner's Children Hospital, Plyler Baptist Church, or Stanly Adult Care Center.
