Florence Dunn

November 2, 1928 — November 12, 2022

Florence Lynn Seidel Dunn, 94, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022 at The Laurels & the Haven in Highland Creek in Charlotte, NC.

Lynn was born November 2, 1928 in Walla Walla, Washington, to the late Robert Alexander Seidel and the late Marjorie Valentine Seidel.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allan P. Dunn, and her sister, Jeanne Seidel Welles.

Survivors include her sons, Russell A. Dunn of Auburndale, FL; Richard P. Dunn of Denver, NC; Steven R. Dunn of Amherst, MA; and Stanley W. Dunn of Charlotte, NC, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Lynn and Allan were high school sweethearts and married on October 14th, 1950.  They had recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary when Allan passed away in 2013.  Raising four boys during the turbulent 50’s and 60’s, Lynn managed to retain her composure while also staying active in various community groups such as the Newcomers Club and the Goodwill Ladies’ Auxiliary.  Lynn had a playful, creative imagination, writing and illustrating a children’s storybook as a preteen and sculpting dozens of ceramic dog statuettes over the years, many modeled after family pets.  She was devoted to her family, never missing a birthday and assembling many photo albums and collages treasured by those she left behind.  Allan and Lynn retired in the early 1980s and crisscrossed the country several times in their RV “Winnie.”  Their home base was Pinole, California, where they were active in the Pinole Senior Center.  Lynn relocated to the Charlotte area to be closer to family in 2017.  She will be greatly missed.
