Eric Jeffery Knight

Eric Jeffery Knight, beloved husband, devoted family member and admired friend, who never met a stranger, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Medical University of South Carolina, after a period of declining health.

Jeff was born March 16, 1958 in Greenville, SC. He was the son of the late William Shaw Knight and Mary Britt Knight. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Knight.

Jeff started his supervisory plumbing career at Precision Plumbing of Matthews, NC in 1982, where he worked for forty years.

Jeff was an avid outdoorsman. He become a North Carolina Lifetime Sportsman in 1987. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, canoeing, and camping. His favorite spot was the New River in Piney Creek, NC. He received a North Carolina Saltwater Fishing Citation in 2003 for a record Pompano. He loved martial art and received a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do in the late 70's.

Jeff is survived by his devoted wife, Kelly Thompson Knight; two sons, Matthew Edwards of Indian Trail and Clay Edwards of Midland; as well as 3 precious grandchildren. He is also survived by his uncle Joe Knight; aunt, Tina Knight; cousin Rodger Knight and his wife, Anne Knight; and precious Chiweenie, Luna Belle.

There will be a reception held at Kates Garden, 13511 Broadway Avenue, Midland, NC, on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The family requests for you to dress comfortable and casual.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Humane Society, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or Wounded Warrior Project.
