Emma Foster

Emma Nell Austin Foster, 81 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Woodhaven Court in Albemarle.
Nell was born March 4, 1934 in Stanly County to the late Gifford David Austin and the late Marsha Mary Broadway Austin. She was also preceded in death by her numerous brothers and sisters; and infant son.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Monday, January 25, 2016 in the fellowship hall at Oakboro First Baptist Church, 322 N. Main St., Oakboro. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the church sanctuary, officiated by Rev. Dr. Terrell Watts. The burial will be at Smith's Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 138, Oakboro. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home of her son, James Foster.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Harry Dee Foster, Jr. of the home; son, James Foster and wife Brooke of Oakboro; daughters, Sherlene Turner and Jeannie Russell; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Nell was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved cooking and singing in the choir at Oakboro First Baptist Church, where she was a member.
