Edward Tate Talbert

Edward Tate Talbert, 48, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord. Tate was born July 9, 1978 in Hawaii to the late Edward Warren Talbert and Doris Ellen Talbert.

Tate, better known as Tater, enjoyed playing the drums. His love of building LEGOs could be seen around the house as if the store had exploded. He served as a first responder for Millingport and later at Ridgecrest Vol. Fire Departments. He was also a member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club NC 24 for three years. Tater enjoyed traveling to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #348 in Albemarle. Tater was a dedicated employee at Radio Shack for 15 years. Later he worked for Harris Teeter for 4 years and Dollar General for 10 years. Everyone knew he was at DG when they saw the red Jeep Wrangler and heard the stereo coming into the parking lot. Tater never met a stranger and will be missed by all the customers that he met during his career.

The family will receive friends from 6pm - 8pm on August 28, 2026 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 29, 2026 in the Lefler's Memorial Chapel Hartsell Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor David Shankle. Burial will follow at the Norview Gardens Cemetery in Norwood.

Survivors includes wife of 12 years Anita Talbert; sisters, Elizabeth Nicholson and Meg Schmidt; daughters, Madison Caudle and Hailey Caudle; grandson Cameron Foreman; mother, Doris Ellen Talbert. He is also survived by many other family members that will deeply miss him.

The family would like to thank Atrium Health Cabarrus ICU 2 staff for the excellent care and compassion shown to them and Tate during his three week stay and after.
