Dwight Sides

Dwight Weldron Sides, age 77 of 1520 Old Charlotte Road, Albemarle, passed away on October 26, 2010 at his home. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle on Wednesday from 6 to 8. At other times they will meet at his home. Funeral service will be at Canton Baptist Church, where he was a member, on Thursday at 2 PM. Rev. Mark Mabry will officiate and burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Born in Stanly County on April 19, 1933, he was the son of the late Howell Frederick Sides and the late Pauline Bowers Sides. He was also preceded in death by his infant son, Gary Dwight Sides and a brother Jimmie Sides. He retired from the Public Works Department for the City of Albemarle and served in the U.S. Army. He was a devoted husband, “Daddy” and “Paw Paw”. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Ann Kennedy Sides of the home; daughters Diane Stewart and husband Randy of Thomasville and Linda Wallace and husband Jack of Albemarle; grandchildren, Meredith Phillips and husband Brad, Matthew Stewart and wife Stephanie, Mark Stewart and wife Kelly and Laura Wallace; brother, Donald Sides of Albemarle; sister, Carolyn Osborne of Kannapolis; and great grandchildren, Kate Stewart and Lyla Phillips.
