Doyle Rayvon Hatley

May 12, 1966 — January 5, 2026

New London

Doyle Ravon Hatley, 59, of New London, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family and love.

He was a man who found joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. He had a lifelong passion for working on cars, always happy with grease on his hands and a problem to solve. Whether he was fixing an engine, talking about horsepower, or lending a helping hand to someone in need, he took pride in doing things the right way.

He loved being outdoors, appreciating fresh air, hard work and the peace that comes from being outside. He learned to enjoy the front porch almost as much as his tractor.

Trains also had a very special place in his heart. He never lost his fascination with them, their history and the sense of adventure they represented. He turned the basement into "Train Central" at one point by creating a beautiful layout for people to see and enjoy.

After God, he loved his family more than anything. He was a devoted father, son, and husband. He was a teacher by example and a steady presence for those who knew him. Instead of a lot of words, his love was shown through his actions. He would show up, help out, and be there for you when it mattered most. Doyle will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his wisdom, his love to take things apart and fix them, leaving no extra parts. He leaves behind countless memories, friends and his legacy of dedication, kindness and heart.

The celebration of life will start with the family receiving friends from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Oakboro. The celebration service will follow Saturday at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Oakboro, officiated by Pastor Jonathan Waits.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Lorrie, children; Kayla (Spencer) Dowd and Everett Kirk, his wonderful parents, Earl and Joyce Hatley, and Brenda Privette and his sister Tonya (Richard) Barbee.

In lieu of flowers, donate to a charity of your choice or perform at least one random act of kindness for someone to honor his memory.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Hatley family.
