Douglas Newell Duty

Douglas Newell Duty, 87, of Concord, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024 at her residence
surrounded by family.

Mrs. Duty was born May 5, 1936, in York County, South Carolina to the late Ebbie Bryant
Newell and the late Corrine Osbourne Kirk. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband,
Mr. Franklin Hardin Duty and beloved daughter, Sheila Starnes.

The funeral service will be on Friday, January 19th, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Hartsell Funeral
Home chapel in Concord, North Carolina. The services will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Christopher
Blake Maxwell with a burial following at the West Concord Cemetery at 331 Union Cemetery
Rd SW, Concord, North Carolina.

Ms. Duty is survived by her sister, Linda Kesler (Pete) of Salisbury, North Carolina; daughter,
Wanda Topczewski (Paul) of Mooresville, North Carolina; son, Timothy Maxwell (Janice) of
Concord, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Jason Hosbein (Kelly) of Concord, North Carolina;
Jennifer Smith (Eugene) of Kannapolis, North Carolina; Brian Maxwell (Amanda) of Spring,
Texas; Blake Maxwell (Holly) of Concord, North Carolina; Allison Starnes of Kannapolis, North
Carolina; Dylan Starnes (Angelia) of Kannapolis, North Carolina; and nine great-grandchildren:
Piper Maxwell, Salem Maxwell, Jude Maxwell, Ruby Maxwell, Remy Maxwell, Hazel Maxwell,
Beau Maxwell, Oaklee Smith, and Sheila Starnes.
