Dorothy Jean Efird

Dorothy Jean Efird, 72, of Indian Trail, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026, at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center in Matthews.

Dorothy was born on June 13, 1953, in North Carolina to the late William Hoover Atkinson and the late Dorthea Atkinson.

She was also preceded in death by grandson, William Reid Efird at birth; sister, Amy Michelle Atkinson.

A graveside service will be on Thursday at 11:00 am at Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle located at 1425 East Main Street.

Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother "Mawmaw". She enjoyed going shopping, gathering for family dinners, and celebrating holidays. Her most cherished moments, were all the times she got to spend with her family, and she always had a cup of her favorite hot tea for the occasion. Dorothy loved the Lord with all her heart and loved to share the Word with those around her. God and family were her life and she was the living definition of the Good Wife. She dedicated her life to serving and would help anyone in need, from family to strangers alike.

Survivors include husband, Stan Efird; sons Larry (Regina) William Dennis and Daniel Taft Efird; daughter, Amy Regina Atwell; sister, Lela DyAnn (Lynn) Sherrin; grandchildren, Baylee Jeanne Hartis, William Tyler Dennis, Andrew Reid (Sarah) Stegall, Brianna "Breezy" Grace (Freddy) Arcoraci, Serenity Roseann Wiles; Joseph Landon Dennis, Barbara Jean Efird, and Shawnee Kai Efird; great-grandchildren, Carmella Louise Arcoraci and Michael James Arcoraci.

Donations may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
