Dorothy Dean Garmon Blackwelder, 87, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Blackwelder was born July 13, 1925 in Mecklenburg County to the late Jason Wycliffe Garmon and Margie Blandean House Garmon. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Timothy Mark Blackwelder in 1971 at the age of 5 and Billy W. Blackwelder, Jr. in 2004; and her sisters, Jo Gail Garmon and Betty Jean Garmon. Mrs. Blackwelder was a kind and gracious lady with a great sense of humor. She was always concerned about the well-being of all of her children and grandchildren. She was a Rock for her family who throughout suffering and tragedy remained strong for her loved ones. The family will receive friends from 3 – 4 p.m. Friday, October 12, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. At other times, the family will meet at her home. Survivors include her husband, Billy Wadsworth Blackwelder of the home; her sons, Daniel Jason Blackwelder and his wife, Dianne, James Scott Blackwelder and his wife, Wendy, and Patrick Jo Blackwelder; her daughter, Becky Blackwelder Fink; her brother, J. W. Garmon; her sister, Phyllis Ann Garmon; her grandchildren, Connie Arstark, Andy Blackwelder, Eric Blackwelder, Blake Blackwelder, Bradley, Caleb and Josh Blackwelder, and Billy W. Fink; and her great-grandchildren, Amber, Brittany and Justin Fink, McKenzie, Savannah, and Max Arstark; and her great-great-granddaughter, Lilly.
