Donald Grey Williams

Donald Grey Williams, 85, of Richfield, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Atrium Health Stanly Hospital in Albemarle.

Mr. Williams was born April 17, 1938, in North Carolina to the late Grey Foy Williams and the late Margaret Grace Kennedy. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Kim Russell and grandson, Tate Nathaniel Williams.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at Matton's Grove Methodist Church in Gold Hill. A Memorial service will follow, officiated by Pastor Martha Hayes. Mr. Williams was a lifelong member of Matton's Grove Methodist Church.

Survivors include wife, Julia Ann Williams of Richfield, NC, son, Jeff (Lisa) Williams of Albemarle, NC, daughter, Mitzi Ward of Badin, NC, grandchildren: Monica (Billy) Talbert, Nikki (Brian) Hinson, Derek (Holly) Williams, Erin (Devin) Floyd, Kayce (Tyler) Ingold, Kayte (Tyler) Smith, Brittany Ward, Deva (Courtney) Ward, Keelie (Cameron) Crayton, Karman (Jack) Kelly, Bailey Williams (Marcus Mason) and 22 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mrs. Kay Barringer (Ed) of Gold Hill.

Mr. Williams grew up on the family farm in Richfield where his dad and grandfather Charlie Lee Williams had a lasting impact on his life. He graduated in 1956 from Richfield High School. He always had a joke to tell, and enjoyed restoring antique tractors, woodworking and watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports.
