Donald Clyde Vanhoy

Donald Clyde Vanhoy, 77, of Richfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Atrium Health Charlotte.

He was born August 15, 1948, in Stanly County to the late Charles and Lillie H. Vanhoy.

He was also preceded in death by brothers: Lane (Betty) Vanhoy, Tom (Donna Kaye) Vanhoy and Jerry Vanhoy, sister- in-law, Jane Vanhoy and brother- in- law Lee Roy Plowman.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:15 am with the funeral service to follow at 11:30 am at Mountain Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 40247 Mtn. Creek Rd.,New London, NC., officiated by Elders Branan Hooven, James Carelock, and Richard Broadway, burial will follow at the Mt. Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at Mountain Creek Road, New London.

Survivors include siblings, Jean Plowman Stroupe, Sherrill Vanhoy, Lynn (Kelly) Vanhoy, Reggie (Connie) Vanhoy, three sister-in-laws, and many loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Creek Primitive Baptist Church in care of Howard Isenhour, 44097 Ridenhour Road., Gold Hill, NC 28071

Don was a faithful and beloved member of Mountain Creek Primitive Baptist Church and he was a retired brick mason by trade. He spent his later years in the comforting care of his loving sister, Jean. They enjoyed gardening and sharing their harvest with their loved ones. Don attended weekly at Care Cafe where he eagerly anticipated joining in the activities and visiting with his many friends.
