Don Frey

Don Carloes Frey, 84 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Frey was born November 29, 1931 in New York to the late Cecilia Dival Frey. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Edna Marie Frey, sisters Verna Mae Hudson, Sylvia Heinlein, and Margaret Sevier, and a brother John Jacob Frey, Jr,
Don was a retired veteran of the US Army, serving in the Special Forces at the rank Senior Master Sergeant with 23 years active service. After his military service, he entered law enforcement with the Albemarle Police Department and served 16 years rising to the position of Chief of Police until his retirement in 1986.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Monday, January 4, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Central United Methodist Church 172 N. Second Street, Albemarle, officiated by Rev Samuel H. Moore, Jr and Rev Jim Yow. Burial will take place on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church, 171 Mount Hermon Road Lynch Station, VA at 11:00 AM.
Survivors include son, Don Carloes Frey, Jr. and wife Jill, daughter, Linda Waddell and husband Wayne, son, Michael Frey and wife Roxanne, daughter Sandra Frey, daughter, Kimberly Hopkins and husband Scott, son, Kevin Frey, sister, Louise Pollard, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews .
